Approve in Slack, Teams or by email
Approvers can decide in Slack and in Microsoft Teams as well as in the web app. An admin sets each one up once under Settings › Integrations (see integrations). The web inbox is always on.
What the message shows
Section titled “What the message shows”Noset posts one message per request to the approvals channel, and keeps it current. It shows:
- the action, the agent and the gate, and who started the agent;
- why the agent asks, when your organization has it on;
- how many approvals each team still needs, for example “1 of 2 from Finance”, and when the request expires;
- Approve, Deny and Open in Noset.
As people decide, the message is updated. Once the request is decided or has expired, it shows the outcome instead of the buttons. Only the person who clicked sees Noset’s answer to their click.
How Noset knows who clicked
Section titled “How Noset knows who clicked”There is no linking step. When you click Approve or Deny, Noset asks Slack or Teams for your account’s email address and finds the Noset member with the same address.
- Every click asks the platform again; the address never comes from the message.
- Only your own workspace or tenant counts. Clicks from other workspaces, guests, Slack Connect people and deactivated accounts never match.
- Microsoft Teams: people who sign in to Noset with Entra ID are matched by their Entra object id first, then by email.
- First account wins: the first Slack or Teams account that decides for an address is pinned to it. Another account with the same address later gets “This account is not the first one Noset pinned”, and its click does not count.
- Every chat decision is recorded in the evidence: the platform, the workspace or tenant, the account and the email.
If your Slack or Teams account has no email in its profile, or a different one than your Noset account, your clicks cannot count. Decide in the web app instead.
Requests go to the approvals channel an admin names in Slack’s settings. For a private channel, invite the app first: /invite @Noset.
Microsoft Teams
Section titled “Microsoft Teams”Requests go to the General channel of the team that added the Noset app, or to the channel an admin picks when the app is in several teams.
